India to face Bangladesh on Friday in their last Super 4s encounter.
Iyer had made his comeback to international cricket in the ongoing continental tournament and was part of the first two Group A matches against Nepal and Pakistan. He managed to score 14 runs against Pakistan.
However, he suffered a back spasm just before the toss in the India vs. Pakistan Super 4s match and was replaced in the XI by KL Rahul. He also missed the tie against Sri Lanka, both of which India won and qualified for the final of the Aisa Cup 2023.
During Iyer's absence, KL Rahul stepped in and made a significant impact with a century against Pakistan and a valuable 39 runs against Sri Lanka.
However, Iyer was seen practicing in the nets, having a light batting session, signaling his gradual return to full fitness. His consistency, ability to handle spin bowling, and adept strike rotation have solidified his position in India's middle-order.
India are set to face Bangladesh in their Super Four clash on Friday. Currently, India leads the table with two wins and four points. Bangladesh lost both their Super 4s clashes and will be playing for pride.
