On the eve of the Sri Lanka match, Pakistan announced their playing XI and made five changes to the line-up that featured in the last game against India on September 10.
The Men in Green dropped experienced opener Fakhar Zaman and brought young Mohammad Haris in the playing XI.
Another change in the batting line-up was Saud Shakeel’s inclusion in place of Agha Salman, who got hit on his face while attempting a paddle sweep in the match against India.
Pacer Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the remainder of the Asia Cup 2023 due to a shoulder injury and Pakistan have picked Zaman Khan in his place.
Another fast bowler Haris Rauf, who did not bowl on the reserve day of the Pakistan versus India clash, continues to recover after he felt discomfort in his right flank and Mohammad Wasim Jr replaced him for the match against Sri Lanka.
Seam-bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has been axed from the team as well after his poor outing against India, with spin all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz coming in his place.
The rest of the XI was same with Imam-ul-Haq featuring in the line-up as opener, followed by skipper Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed.
Shadab Khan is the premier spinner in the team while Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead the pace attack.
