Shaheen Afridi was the toast of Pakistani bowling as they clashed with India in the ongoing Asia Cup tournament in Kandy, Sri Lanka on September 2, 2023. For Pakistan, this was their second and final group match, having defeated Nepal earlier.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first and Shaheen Afridi had the better of the two big heavyweight Indian batters as he castled both Rohit Sharma (11) and Virat Kohli (4) in successive overs, while Shubman Gill made 10 runs 32 balls, before being bowled by Haris Rauf.

Shreyas Iyer looked in great touch but was caught by Fakhar Zaman for 14 runs.

Then Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) added 138 runs for the fifth wicket and it seemed India will post a good total in the end.

But apart from big fishes Rohit and Kohli, Shaheen also removed Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja to stop India from getting a huge score. India finally ended with 266 runs in 48.5 overs.

Shaheen Afridi picked 4/35, while Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah took three wickets apiece.

The cricket fraternity was all praiseful for the left-arm pacer and lauded him on social media.
