India lost to Pakistan in super 4s stage in Asia Cup 2022; then Pakistan lost in final to Sri Lanka.
Pakistan defeated India by 5 wickets in Super 4s to avenge their loss in the group stage. India then lost to Sri Lanka and was then eliminated from the race for the final, after the Men in Green beat Afghanistan by 1 wicket.
Speaking on Samaa TV, the former Pakistan captain revealed that there was a shortage of Pakistan flags at the venue, so his daughter had to wave India's flag during the game.
"My wife told me that there were barely 10% Pakistani fans in the stadium and the rest were Indian fans. Pakistani flags were not available there so my younger daughter was waving the Indian flag. I received the video, but I was unsure about whether to share it online or not," he said on Samaa TV.
Sri Lanka came into the finals on the back of an unbeaten run after losing to Afghanistan in the first match of the tournament and it was a sublime performance with both the bat and the ball by Dasun Shanaka’s side in the final in Dubai.
An unbeaten knock of 71 runs off 45 balls by Bhanuka Rajapaksa helped the hosts reach 170 for six in 20 overs. Hasaranga also played a crucial knock, smacking 36 runs off 21 balls.
Chasing 171 to win, Mohammad Rizwan’s half-century couldn’t save Pakistan from a 23-run defeat as they were bowled out for 147. Pramod Madushan and Wanindu Hasaranga took four-wicket and three-wicket hauls respectively.
