Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first in the Asia Cup 2022 final.
Pakistan made two changes with Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan coming in for Usman Qadir and Hassan Ali.
Naseem Shah gave Pakistan a good start as he removed the dangerous Kusal Mendis for a duck on the first ball he faced. Naseem bowled a quick delivery that swung into Mendis, who was late to react to the pace and saw his off-stump being rattled as Sri Lanka lost their first wicket for 2 runs.

Pathum Nissanka was next to fall, despite hitting a good-looking four in his 8-run knock, as he got out trying to hit Haris Rauf over the top and was caught by Babar Azam at mid-off. Much was expected from the next man in Danushka Gunathilaka, but Rauf was too good for the left-hander.
Haris Rauf was clocking over 150 kph easily and Gunathilaka had no answer for a 151kph delivery that came into the left-hander and demolished the middle and off stumps. Sri Lanka was reduced to 36/3 inside the powerplay overs.
