Virat Kohli has continued his impressive form with the bat in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, as the dashing right-hander smashed his second fifty of the tournament under extreme pressure in the second super four stage match against Pakistan on Sunday (September 5) in Dubai.

After being put into bat by Babar Azam, Virat Kohli played a brilliant knock of 60 runs off 44 balls to help Team India post 181/7 in 20 overs against Pakistan. However, the Men in Blue couldn’t defend the total and suffered a 5-wicket defeat against Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai.

After the match, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag heaped praise on Kohli for his brilliant batting against Pakistan and said that the whole team plays around the former skipper.

Virender Sehwag told Cricbuzz, “We expect too much from Virat Kohli. Whenever he walks out to bat, we wish him to score big, at least a hundred. People discuss when he will break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries. So, when he gets 40, 50, or 60, we don’t even count. So, this is the reason, I think people have been discussing him a lot.”

Sehwag further said that Kohli was never out of form, but it was beyond expectations to see him score a century in every second match, and that’s why there are a lot of discussions around him.

The former opener continued, “For me, he was always in form but couldn’t convert good starts to bigger scores. But this innings [against Pakistan] was crucial. Rohit and Rahul gave a superb start to the innings but one person around whom this Indian team plays is Virat Kohli. Had he lost his wicket early, the total of 181 could have been somewhere around 151.”

He signed off by saying, “A player’s form is considered poor when he gets out for 0, 1,2 or so But that has never been the case with him. He is scoring runs but not a hundred. So, he isn’t living up to our expectations but at the same time, what we expect is not important to him.”
