The Babar Azam-led Pakistan side on Saturday (September 3) put on a clinical show, humiliating Hong Kong by 155 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

With this victory, Pakistan made it to the Super 4s of the Asia Cup 2022 and will lock horns with arch-rivals India once again on Sunday (September 4) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

After qualifying for the Super 4s, Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan said he is excited about the upcoming fixtures in the Asia Cup, especially the matches against India.

Rizwan mentioned that he hopes for a best of three against India in the ongoing Asia Cup.

Ahead of the match, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) posted a video on Twitter, where the Pakistan wicketkeeper said: “We’ve jokingly convinced ourselves that it’s a best of three series. This is cricket and we’re always discussing about it, hoping we keep playing matches, going from match to match and into the finals. We always talk about this."

“It is in front of everyone that there is always pressure when its India and Pakistan clash. People all over the world wait for this clash. The match between India and Pakistan feels like a final match to everyone. I think we need to keep this match as normal as possible. Pakistan’s confidence is high, ready for any opponent,” he added.

India and Pakistan are expected to emerge as the top two teams from the Super 4 stage and face each other in the final as well.

Speaking on the same line, Rizwan said that his team is working hard, aiming to improve the game as his nation demands for it.

“Obviously, we aim to improve our game and work hard because our nation demands it. The players in our current team are putting in the work and effort. There is a sense of camaraderie and we are trying to fulfil what our nation demands from us. And, as we all know, the end result is in the hands of the Almighty."

India and Pakistan have qualified for the Super 4s from Group A and both the teams will be playing at least once against the other two teams qualified from Group B - Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

During the group stage, India had defeated Pakistan by five wickets in a nail-biting encounter. The Men in Blue had bundled out the old rivals for 147 and then chased down the target with two balls to spare.
