Hardik Pandya won the Player of the Match award for his all-round show.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar had also starred by picking 4/26, the best figures by an Indian bowler against Pakistan in T20Is, while Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 43 as the Men in Green were asked to bat first by Rohit Sharma who won the toss.
In reply, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Nawaz hurt India badly as KL Rahul fell for a duck to debutant Naseem and Nawaz got rid of Rohit for 12 and then Kohli for 35 runs. But then Ravindra Jadeja (35) added 52 runs for the 5th wicket with Hardik Pandya to bring India back into the game.
Pandya hit Haris Rauf for three fours in the 19th over to bring the equation to 7 runs off the last over and then hit a six on Nawaz’s delivery to get India home by 5 wickets, remaining unbeaten on 33 in 17 balls.
During the match, Pandya hugged Pakistan keeper Mohammad Rizwan from behind after he had completed the run, leading to the keeper laughing out. The video of the same went viral as well and can be seen below.
