Ahead of his first assignment as a technical consultant with the Bangladesh team in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022, former India spinner Sridharan Sriram said that he is very clear about his role and is looking forward to capitalizing on his experience in bringing positive results for the Tigers.

Recently, Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo was removed from the duties of the T20I set-up and has not traveled with the team to the UAE, while Sriram started his stint with the Bangladesh team, as they are gearing up to take on Afghanistan in their first match of the Asia Cup 2022 on August 30 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Sriram said in his first media interaction since taking up the job: “I am very clear about my role here. My job is to basically work with the captain, the team director, and the skill coaches, bringing all three components together and use my T20 experience of IPL and Australia and bring a strategy where we can use our resources properly.”

He also hailed BCB’s "fantastic move" to re-appoint Shakib Al Hasan as captain of the T20I team ahead of the Asia Cup 2022, where Bangladesh is placed with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in Group B.

Sriram signed off by saying, “I respected him as an opponent and it’s so heartening to see his view on the T20 game. It’s so modern, it was so refreshing, and we were on the same page.”
