Kohli is coming off a short break after being rested for the West Indies and Zimbabwe tours.
Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson believes that Indian star Virat Kohli will be mentally and physically fresh coming into the Asia Cup 2022. He said that having time off from cricket will help him regenerate everything and find his form.
The talk around Kohli’s form is just increasing day by day. Having scored his last hundred in November 2019 in a Test match against Bangladesh, the right-hander has looked completely out of sorts in recent times and has failed to get going.
He was last seen in action during the England tour but it was a horrendous tour for him as he miserably failed in all the games, including the Edgbaston Test. Since then, he has been rested and will return to the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.

Many have backed the former Indian skipper to come out good in the tournament as they feel that a break would’ve done a lot of good to him. His first match after his time off will be a high-pressure game as India will take on Pakistan in their first encounter of the Asia Cup.
It’s fair to say that Kohli, over the years, has been exceptional in high-pressure games and it is expected that he’ll continue his streak and regain his form.
Speaking during the ICC review, Shane Waston said that Kohli coming off the break will be mentally and physically refreshing for him. He also highlighted how even during the IPL, the right-hander looked ‘sapped’.
"Having time off for him certainly, would (help him) just be able to regenerate mentally, physically, just be able to get away from the game of cricket.
"You could just see that his energy was a bit sapped, even during the IPL. You could tell, no matter how much he tried he was always up and about, but you could see the light was just out a tiny bit. Shane Watson said.
Talking about Kohli, Watson highlighted how break particularly for Indian cricketers can help them regenerate everything and find their groove. He added that the former Indian skipper will need only a couple of balls to regain his form.

"So when you're able to have a break, and because the Indian cricketers in particular play so much cricket, for Virat to be able to have some time off, especially a month, that's just going to regenerate everything he needs to be able to take stock of what happened, freshen up mentally and physically.
“He's too good not to be able to find his groove. It'll only take him a couple of balls, get into the battle again, and away he goes,” he said.
Kohli’s form would be crucial for Team India in the context of the Asia Cup. If the 33-year-old returns to his best then the chances of India winning the cup will be very high. It remains to be seen how the former Indian skipper will go when he steps on the field after a break.
