As Pakistan is set to face India in their opening match in the Asia Cup 2022 on August 28 in Dubai, former pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz said that the Men in Green must capitalize on the Asian giant’s depleted bowling attack and repeat the T20 World Cup 2021 result at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan thrashed Team India by 10 wickets in a T20 World Cup 2021 group match in Dubai, but this time they will be missing their premier pacer Shaheen Afridi (injured), as will the Men in Blue, who will be missing their premier pacers Jasprit Bumrah (injured), Mohammad Shami (not selected) and Harshal Patel (injured).

Given that Nawaz believes that the Pakistan team should capitalize on this situation and replicate the T20 World Cup 2021 result on August 28.

Sarfaraz Nawaz was quoted by Cricket Pakistan: “Bowlers win matches and since India’s premier pacers Bumrah and Shami are missing out for the clash, Pakistan must fully capitalize on the situation and replicate the same results from last time around.”

He further said, “We were playing against weak teams. We haven't faced tough competitors and we will see how the team will perform in the T20 World Cup 2022.”

Meanwhile, the former pacer also urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to prepare lively pitches for home matches, as two of Pakistan’s three Test matches against Australia ended in a draw.

Nawaz signed off by saying, “They [PCB] need to concentrate on the curation of pitches. They make completely dead pitches and that was seen during the series against Australia. The pitches are supposed to be lively and have a pinch of grass.”
