Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt admitted that India has a great chance of winning the upcoming Asia Cup in the UAE in 2022, but, since T20 cricket is the most unpredictable format, Pakistan is also a strong contender to win the trophy next month.

He further lauded Team India’s pool of players and said that the way they are playing cricket, it is obvious for everyone to feel that nobody can beat the Asian giants in the Asia Cup 2022.

However, the veteran batter feels Pakistan can also beat anyone on their day, while saying you can’t take other teams like Afghanistan lightly as they are also good teams in the shorter format of the game.

Salman Butt said on his YouTube channel: “Yes, they (India) can win the Asia Cup. Do they lack Vitamin C (laughs)? The type of cricket they are playing, the pool of players they have, they are giving exposure of international cricket to a lot of players, people will consider them as favorites.”

He added, “But then there is Pakistan, who can beat any team on their day. In T20 cricket, anything is possible, one good partnership could change the complexion of the entire match. Afghanistan is the dark horse as they can get bowled out easily but can also do the same to other teams.”

Notably, the Asia Cup 2022 will get underway on August 27 with the opening match set to take place between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
