Former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif said inconsistent appearances of star players over the last year can cost India their match against its arch-rivals Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.

The countdown for the much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan has begun. The Asian giants will face each other in the Asia Cup 2022 on 28th August in UAE.

Since both the nations don’t play each other in bilateral series, the excitement for the game becomes unmatched. The last time they faced each other was during the T20 World Cup 2021, which saw Pakistan thumping India by 10 wickets.

However, since then both the teams have gradually improved and have been in red hot form. While India is ranked No.1 in ICC T20I rankings for the teams, Pakistan has been performing well in the shortest format of the game.

With the clash between the arch-rivals not far away, many fans and cricket experts have started to make their predictions and also have given suggestions to the teams on what strategy they should apply.

Rashid Latif said that although the result of the match can go any way, Pakistan has a better strategy as they have not shuffled the players as India has done in the last year.

“Win or loss is different. But I think Pakistan's strategy is looking much better. There are not many changes in the Pakistan side, whether it's T20I, ODI, or Test. When you look at India, they have had around 7 captains in the past year, which is quite inappropriate in present situation," Rashid Latif said on his official YouTube channel ‘Caught Behind’.

Latif highlighted how fitness issues and continued resting of players can cause problems for Team India in making their best team.

“Kohli isn't there, Rohit and Rahul were injured. Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant came as captains, and Shikhar Dhawan (ODI) also came as a captain. They would have some problems making their best team. It is no doubt that India have the best players but they can't make their best-16, and I think they would have problems even forming their best XI,” he said.

Latif said that Pakistan won the last encounter because of India’s mistake and this time also they can cash on that and emerge victorious.

“Pakistan won because of India's mistakes last year, and I think this time, Pakistan will benefit from India's mistakes again,” he said.

Both India and Pakistan are also likely to face each other twice in Asia Cup and are also slated to lock horns in the T20 World Cup 2022.
