Pakistan endured a humiliating 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the first Test match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday (August 25).

After conceding a first innings lead of 117 runs, Pakistan’s second essay folded for just 146, giving Bangladesh a paltry target of 30 to go 1-0 up in the two-match series.

The visiting openers wrapped up the match in 6.3 overs to take an unassailable lead in the series. It was their first-ever Test win against Pakistan.

Amid the dismal show, a video went viral on social media, showing the Pakistan skipper Shan Masood "chilling" in the dressing room while sitting next to the newly-appointed Test coach Jason Gillespie.

In the clip, Masood was seen smiling whilst in discussion with a fellow teammate when the hosts were reeling at 137/8 in their second innings, with a lead of just 20 runs.

This sight of the Pakistan red-ball captain left the fans furious and they vented out their anger on social media.

Here are the reactions:

Reflecting on the embarrassing defeat, Shan Masood rued that the pitch didn’t play the way they had expected it. He also defended the team management’s decision to go with a four-pronged pace attack in the Rawalpindi Test.

“Never to make an excuse, it (the pitch) didn't play the way we thought it would. Also the weather it had been around in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, it rained around 8-9 days before the first day of play. Firstly looking at the pitch, we expected it to do a bit more. With three pace bowlers, they were gonna be pushed to the limit. At the end of the day, we got it wrong,” Masood said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Talking about Pakistan’s decision to declare the first innings at 448/6, the captain remarked: “Hindsight, looking at the declaration, we wanted to push the game forward. Also with the ball and in the field, we could have done better to keep them at par. It's a misconception, with the way it was going to take a lot. When you are playing for a draw, funny things can happen. A lot can happen under pressure. There have been mistakes and we have to do better when we play next.”

“There's always room for a spinner, we lost Aamer Jamal who does well with both bat and ball. In Sydney, Sajid Khan played, going with four pacers didn't work in this game. There have been different pitches produced, it's a huge lesson for us on what to expect from our own conditions. The key is to consider the conditions and not make the same mistakes we have made here,” he concluded.
