AUS v PAK 2023-24: Tendulkar, Sehwag lead cricket fraternity in congratulating David Warner on a wonderful Test career

Warner retired from the longest format of the game after the third Test against Pakistan at SCG.

Australian opener David Warner brought down the curtains on his Test career at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday (January 6).

In his final Test innings, the southpaw scored a match-winning 57 as Australia successfully chased down 130 to win the Sydney Test by eight wickets and clinch the series 3-0 against Pakistan.

Warner’s illustrious Test career spanned 112 matches, where he aggregated 8,786 runs at an average of 44.60, including 26 hundreds and 37 half-centuries.

The left-hander was known for his explosive batting style in Test cricket irrespective of the conditions and his strike rate of 70.20 is a testimony of the same. He was also an exceptional fielder, finishing his Test career with 91 catches.

As Warner bid farewell to the longest format of the game, congratulatory messages and best wishes poured in for the Australian cricketer from the cricket fraternity.

Before the Sydney Test against Pakistan, David Warner also announced his retirement from the ODI format, in which he amassed 6932 runs from 161 games at 45.01 with 22 tons and 33 fifties. He was also part of Australia’s 2015 and 2023 World Cup winning teams.
