Virat Kohli was dismissed for 14 by Mitchell Starc.
Thanks to brilliant centuries from Travis Head (163) and Steve Smith (121), Australia posted 469 runs in their first innings after being asked to bat first by India captain Rohit Sharma who had won the toss.
In response, India was reduced to 76/4 in no time as Rohit Sharma (15), Shubman Gill (13) and Cheteshwar Pujara (14) and Virat Kohli (14) fell early to disciplined Australian bowling.
While Rohit was out LBW to his counterpart Pat Cummins, Gill and Pujara were out bowled while shouldering arms to deliveries that came in after pitching. Kohli was looking positive but received a delivery from Mitchell Starc that bounced from good length and he could only edge it to slips.
Kohli was then caught having food while Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill and Vikram Rathour had conversations around him and he was trolled by netizens, who tried to insinuate that he was unserious about the summit clash between India and Australia.
People gave example of Sachin Tendulkar, while quoting him that he hadn’t eaten for 3 days after his cheap dismissal in the 2003 World Cup final against Australia.
Kohli took to Instagram ahead of the day's play on Day 3 and shared a cryptic message aimed at the trolls. He posted: "You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other peoples' opinions."
