Australia will tour India for a Test series in early 2023.
Australia’s Mitchell Swepson made his Test debut earlier this year during the team’s historic tour to Pakistan after 24 years. However, his performance against the Babar Azam-led side was forgettable as the leg-spinner managed to take only wickets in as many Tests.
However, Swepson impressed everyone with his performance in the recently held Test against Sri Lanka in Galle, taking five wickets in the match, and playing a pivotal role in enabling his team to register a 10-wicket win over the hosts.

Swepson stated while speaking to cricket.com.au that one of his ultimate aims is to be picked for the tour to India, scheduled in early 2023. He also said that there are several Test Matches in between, so he will concentrate on those for the time being.
"I've obviously got one eye on India. That's definitely a goal of mine, and a goal of this group is to get a series win over there. It'd be amazing. But there's a lot of Test cricket before then, in the conditions where the quickies might prefer," he stated.
Additionally, the leg-spinner stated that he loves working with Nathan Lyon and that having an off-spinner and a leg-spinner working together is great.
"So for me, it's about staying ready, going back to Queensland if that's what it is, and performing there. I love bowling with 'Gaz', it's been great both times in Pakistan and here. He's been great to work with and it's great having an off-spinner and a leg-spinner working in tandem," the ‘leggie’ said.
The 28-year-old said that he doubted his bowling game plan after his poor performance in Pakistan.
"I'm not going to lie, it plays on your mind. Doubts definitely creep in – 'Why aren't I taking wickets? What am I doing wrong here? But from the conversations I'd had with coach 'Ron', Dan and Patty, they said while I probably didn't have the tour I wanted in Pakistan, they still thought that in that Test in Karachi I was quite unlucky to not get a few more wickets," he added.
Leading the two-Test match series, 1-0, the Aussies will take on the Lankans in the second Test at the Galle International Stadium from Friday (July 08).
