Stokes, Broad, Bairstow and Crawley managed to eke out a draw for England in SCG.
After being set 388 runs to win the Test by Australia, England batters did well with Zak Crawley making 77, and captain Joe Root contributing 24. Ben Stokes, who made 66 in the first innings, made 60 in the second do as well, taking 123 balls to make those runs.
Jonny Bairstow, despite being injured, made 41 in 105 balls, while Jos Buttler’s poor run continued as managed just 11 runs. Jack Leach with 24 and Stuart Broad with 8* in 35 balls, managed to evade the defeat going into the last 5 overs of the match.

Pat Cummins had to bowl his spinners for the majority of the last half an hour of the match due to fading light and this meant Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne got to roll their arms over. Smith even managed to get Jack Leach out, his first wicket in Tests since 2016.
England finished on 270/9 drawing the Test match and avoiding the possibility of a 5-0 whitewash down under. Australia’s Usman Khawaja was named the Man of the Match for his 137 and 101* with the bat.
The cricket fraternity was lauding England’s tremendous fightback to earn a draw in Sydney and took to Twitter to react with praiseworthy posts.
