England captain Joe Root bowled a bouncer in the second innings of the fourth Ashes Test which surprised the Australia batter, Usman Khawaja. The batter, commentator, or even England wicket-keeper Ollie Pope, no one saw it coming.

It was the last delivery of the 48th over in Australia's innings when Root bowled the bouncer. Khawaja was batting on 35* with Cameron Green on 26* as Australia were four down on 149 runs.

The commentators were also taken aback by the delivery and even the substitute wicket-keeper Ollie Pope didn't expect it. However, Pope, who is keeping after finger injuries to Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow, did a good job to collect the ball.

Khawaja jokingly reacted to the bouncer and signaled 'one for the over' as Root walked off with a smile. We don't usually see spinners bowling a bouncer, especially in the longest format of the game.

The Aussie batter eventually scored a century (101*) in the second innings, which was his consecutive hundred in the match.

Australia declared their second innings on 265/6 after setting up a target of 388 runs for England.
