Australia has taken a 2-0 lead in the ongoing five-match Ashes Test series.
Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra was critical of England’s below-par performance against Australia in the first two Tests of the ongoing Ashes 2021-22, saying there wasn’t any contest at all between the two teams.
He further slammed England for being unable to produce any fight, saying the host side is playing, while the tourists are just participating in the ongoing Ashes series.
His comments came after England suffered a crushing 275-run defeat in the second Ashes Test on Monday, December 20 in Adelaide, after suffering a 9-wicket loss in the first Test in Brisbane to go down 0-2 in the five-match Test series against Australia.
Chasing 468 for victory in the day-night Test in Adelaide, England could manage only 192 with Jhye Richardson taking 5 wickets for Australia in Adelaide.
Chopra said on his YouTube channel: “The opposing team has been thrashed in a way. It seems on. I don't remember when England defeated Australia in Australia, God only knows.”
He signed off by saying, “Generally, the home team wins if we see the last many years of the Ashes. It is the same story here as well. Last Ashes was an aberration where there was a contest but here there is no contest at all.”
