Aakash Chopra also wants to eliminate the toss factor from the WTC final.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently announced the schedule for the next World Test Championship (WTC) cycle along with a few changes to the points system. However, the venue of the final, which will be played in 2023, is yet to be decided.
The second edition of the WTC final will kick start with England taking on India in a five-Test series, starting 4th August at Trent Bridge.
With just a few days left for the start of the second edition of WTC, cricketer-turned commentator Aakash Chopra suggested that the table-toppers at the end of the WTC league phase should host the final.
“There are a couple of suggestions. You won’t be able to change anything else because you have already announced that there will be only six series. Also, the home and away series will have the same weightage.

“But I have a suggestion for the final. The team that tops the WTC points table should host it,” Aakash Chopra said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.
Chopra said that if there is a one-off final then only table toppers should host the WTC final.
“You might have to move the final two-three months here or there because of that but it is fine if you are playing just one match. If you are going to have three, it is great, then you can do it anywhere,” he said.
Aakash Chopra further said that during that scenario visiting team should have the right to the bat or field first. He added that the WTC final being held in the host nation will also ensure that the stadium is filled with fans.
“When you are doing this, you should eliminate the toss. You should give the toss to the visitors, they can decide but it should happen where the hosts are. When you do it in the host nation, there will be huge crowds which you are always worried about. So, you will not have to think too much about that,” he concluded.
