New Zealand cricket team defeated India in the WTC final to win their second ICC title.
Kane Williamson said the result of the World Test Championship (WTC 2021) final is not a reflection of India's quality and the depth they possess in the longest format of the game.
New Zealand thumped Virat Kohli-led side by eight wickets at Ageas Bowl, Southampton to be crowned as the first-ever World Test Champions.
Chasing the target of 139 runs, skipper Kane Williamson along with senior batsman Ross Taylor added an unbeaten 96 runs to take New Zealand home and win their first ICC title since 2000.

Taking a pragmatic approach, Kane Williamson admitted that a single match doesn't show the 'whole picture' but explained that most summit games are designed in the same way to display the excitement in a one-off game.
He added that although New Zealand is proud of its achievement, it doesn't take away anything from India who has the quality to win many more games in the future,
"In sport, when you have tournaments and finals, these are set up in a way to provide excitement and opportunity in a one-off game. It never really tells the whole picture. As we know, this Indian team is a formidable side. They truly are a great side.
"We are proud to have achieved a win in this match but that takes nothing away from the quality that India had in their team, how strong they are year in and year out. I have got absolutely no doubt they will win plenty, plenty more,” Kane Williamson told India Today.
Williamson admitted that India is relentless in all three formats of the game. He added that the passion that Virat Kohli's men bring to the game is a rewarding experience for the sport.

"You feel the quality every time you come up against them. They are relentless with the ball. The seam bowling depth in the world is probably the best in the world. Their spinners, they are incredible bowlers and the batting perhaps need no mention, it's world-class. And the depth they have been creating.
"It's the passion that the country brings to the sport. Although I play for a different country, I think we can all appreciate the passion they bring to the game. It's rewarding for everybody that plays the game," he said.
Team India’s next assignment is five-Test series against England which will start on 4th August at Trent Bridge. Virat would be looking to win their first Test series in England since 2007 as over the last three-Test series Indian team have been outplayed.
