England James Anderson scripted history as he became the first fast bowler in cricket history to reach the 600-wicket milestone in Test cricket.

On Tuesday, 25th Aug, he removed Azhar Ali in Pakistan’s second innings of the third Test between the two sides.

Muttiah Muralitharan (800), Shane Warne (708) and Anil Kumble (619) top the list. In addition, he also became the quickest to attain the milestone in terms of balls taken.

Anderson surprised Ali with a delivery with extra bounce, which the Pakistan skipper edged to his England counterpart Joe Root in slips.

The 38-year-old, who started the match on 593 wickets, claimed his 29th five-wicket haul in the first innings as England won the series 1-0 after the final Test ended in a draw with Pakistan at 187/4.

Of his 600 scalps, 384 of them came in England, while 216 came away from home. The cricket fraternity was all praises for the record made by James Anderson, who had made his debut in 2003 against Zimbabwe.
