Australia currently leads the WTC 2027 points table with 87.50% points percentage.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the venue and the date for next year's ICC World Test Championship Final. The Oval in London will host the WTC 2027 final, and the game will be played from Wednesday, 9 June, to Sunday, 13 June.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will choose the location for each of the next three World Test Championship Finals, which will take place in 2027, 2029, and 2031, according to an announcement made by the ICC last year.
The World Test Championship Final will be held at The Oval for the second time. In 2023, Australia defeated India to win the title.
With nine teams still vying for a spot in the final, the current World Test Championship cycle is nearing its conclusion with less than a year remaining.
After winning seven of their eight Test matches, Australia (87.50% points percentage) is comfortably at the top of the standings, followed by South Africa (75%), the reigning champions. Bangladesh (58.33%) has solidified their position in contention following a 2-0 sweep of Pakistan in May, while New Zealand (72.22%) is still within striking distance of the Proteas.
After winning four of their nine Test matches, two-time finalists India sit in fifth place with a points percentage of 48.15%, just ahead of Sri Lanka (41.67%). England (24.36%), the West Indies (15%), and Pakistan (8.33%) have a lot of ground to make up if they want to push their way into the World Test Championship final at the Oval.
The West Indies and Pakistan will clash in the two-Test series starting on July 25, while Australia and Bangladesh will clash in a two-match Test series starting on August 13. India and Sri Lanka will clash in a two-test series in August, while Pakistan travels to England for a three-test series spanning August and September.
“The ICC World Test Championship Final has established itself as one of the most prestigious occasions in the global cricket calendar, bringing together the two best Test teams in the world after two years of sustained excellence and consistency.
The 2027 World Test Championship Final will hold special significance as cricket celebrates 150 years of Test cricket. The Oval has played a proud role in the history of our sport and has hosted some of its most memorable moments. We look forward to working closely with the ECB to deliver another world-class event that celebrates the enduring legacy of Test cricket and creates lasting memories for fans around the world,” ICC General Manager, Events & Operations, Gaurav Saxena said, as per the ICC website.
Neil Snowball, ECB Managing Director, Competitions and Major Events, said, "We are honored to be staging the next three ICC World Test Championship Finals in England and Wales, and we’re pleased to confirm that The Oval will play host again next year. The 2023 final at The Oval was a huge hit with broadcasters and fans, and I’ve no doubt that next year’s event will be extra special again.”
New Zealand had defeated India to win the inaugural WTC final in 2021, while Australia won the second edition in 2023, also defeating India. However, South Africa defeated Australia in the 2025 final to win their second ICC trophy.
