The England opener bagged a pair in the Ashes opener, getting dismissed by Starc in both innings.
Australia’s star pacer Mitchell Starc, who demolished the England batting line-up in the first innings of the Ashes 2025-26 opener at Perth, dismissed Zak Crawley for a five-ball duck in the very first over of the second innings.
The left-arm quick pulled off an incredible caught and bowled to get rid of the English opener for the second time in the first Test.
Crawley drove the fuller delivery in the air back towards the bowler and Starc, in his follow-through, managed to get down and stretch out his left hand to pluck a stunner.
Third umpire Sharfuddoula was called to verify if the catch was clean. After watching replays from different angles, he came to a conclusion that Starc had his fingers under the ball.
Crawley was removed for a six-ball duck by Starc in the first over of the first innings. As a result, the England batter bagged a pair in this Test match.
Starc ran through the visitors’ batting line-up with a career-best 7-58 to bowl them out for 172 in the first essay.
However, England’s captain Ben Stokes delivered an inspiring performance, returning with figures of 5-23, while Carse contributed 3-45 and Jofra Archer 2-11 to help the tourists gain a handy 40-run lead after the end of Australia’s first innings.
