Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian women's cricket team for winning the gold medal at the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China, on Monday, September 25.

Notably, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team defeated Sri Lanka Women by 19 runs in the final to script history, as they won India's first-ever Asian Games gold medal in women's cricket.

It was a huge moment for the Indian women’s cricket team after they had to make do with the silver medal in last year’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where the girls ended up with the silver medal after losing to Australia in the final.
