India women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur had her mic drop moment after the Girls in Blue defeated Bangladesh in the second ODI in Mirpur to level the three-match series on July 19, 2023.

Leading the series 1-0, Nigar Sultana, the Bangladesh captain won the toss and chose to field in the second match.

Though Priya Punia got out for 7 runs, Smriti Mandhana made 36 to give a decent start to the team. Then Harmanpreet Kaur steadied the ship after the loss of Yastika Bhatia and Mandhana, scoring 52 in 88 balls.

But it was Jemimah Rodrigues, who slammed 86 in 78 balls with 9 fours, and Harleen Deol, who made 25 runs to propel India to 228/8 in 50 overs. Sultana Khatun and Nahida Akhter picked two wickets each for Bangladesh.

In reply, Bangladeshi women couldn’t put a hold on constant loss of wickets and only Fargana Hoque (47), and Ritu Moni (27) made notable contributions, while the other batters fell like a pack of cards.

Bangladesh was bowled out for 120 in 35.1 overs with Jemimah having an all-round performance, picking 4/3 in 3.1 overs. Devika Vaidya also took three wickets as India registered a win by 108 runs to draw level in the series.

During the presentation ceremony, Harmanpreet Kaur was talking to the anchor, who after completing the interview, bid goodbye to the Indian captain, but addressed her wrongly as Jemimah. He said: “Thank you very much, Jemimah, and congratulations.

To this, the Indian skipper gave a curt reply with a smile on her face and said: “Harmanpreet Kaur, thank you.
