India’s Olympics 2020 gold medal winner in javelin throw, Neeraj Chopra was in attendance when the India U19 women’s team lifted the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 trophy after they defeated England in the final in Potchefstroom on January 29.

The Shafali Verma-led side created history by becoming the first Indian and first Asian women’s cricket team to win an ICC tournament title.

Titas Sadhu (2/6) and spinners Archana Devi (2/17) and Parshavi Chopra (2/13) kept England to 68 runs after Shafali Verma won the toss and chose to bowl first. Then despite some hiccups, Soumya Tiwari (24*) and G Trisha (24) ensured that the Indian team crossed the finish line with 7 wickets in hand.
