The BCCI wants to leave no stone unturned to make the inaugural edition of the Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) a huge success.

According to a Cricbuzz report, the Women’s IPL squads will be picked via a player auction, to be held in February.

The board has sent out a guidelines document to Indian players, as per which, the capped and uncapped cricketers have been asked to register online to enter the Player Auction Register, the deadline for which is set for 5 PM on January 26.

There are three 'reverse price' categories for the capped players – INR 50 lakh, INR 40 lakh and INR 30 lakh – which will be the starting point for bidding.

On the other hand, the uncapped players have two categories of base price set at INR 20 lakh and INR 10 lakh.

Subsequently, the 'Auction Register' will be trimmed by the five yet-to-be-established franchises to form an 'Auction List' which will then be presented for bidding.

Last month, the BCCI had announced release of Invitation to Tender for Media Rights to the Women’s Indian Premier League Seasons 2023-2027.

Meanwhile, the media rights auction has been postponed by four days to January 16.

The highly-anticipated Women’s IPL 2023 is likely to get underway in the first week of March. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format.
