The much-awaited Women's IPL is likely to start from March 2023. It will be played in a one-month window and in all likelihood will feature six teams.

Up till now, alongside the Men’s IPL, a small exhibition tournament featuring three teams has only been organized for the women. However, the female cricketers will also have a separate tournament from next year onward.

In the past few months, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah have time and again said that they are making efforts to organize the Women's IPL from next year.

Because of the IPL, the performance of the Indian men’s cricket team has grown by leaps and bounds in the last decade. Moreover, the cash-rich tournament has helped the national team to create strong bench strength.

It is expected that the Women’s IPL will also have the same impact. No wonder, the players and fans are excited about it.

Recently, India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana was asked about it and she gave an epic reaction.

It was after the Women's Hundred match between Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave at the Oval. Mandhana had slammed 46 off 25 balls in Southern Brave’s 12-run win.

After the game, a journalist asked, “With the Women's IPL coming next year, can we expect the same kind of enthusiasm back at home as well?”

Mandhana's reply was simply epic as soon as the reporter mentioned Women's IPL. She said: "I think whenever we play there is a lot of enthusiasm back home irrespective of the format. Indian fans love cricket and they turn up to support us regardless of whether it is a one-day or T20. So, the Women's IPL will be great."
