Renuka returned with the bowling figures of 4 for 10 in her four overs.
She ran through the opposition batting line-up to script India’s 100-run win. With this thumping victory, Harmanpreet Kaur and company booked a place in the semi-final of the women’s cricket competition in the ongoing CWG in Birmingham.
Invited to bat first, the Women in Blue posted 162/4 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of Jemimah Rodrigues’ 46-ball 56*, Shafali Verma's 26-ball 43, and Deepti Sharma’s 28-ball 34*.
However, it was Renuka who stole the show with her remarkable spell, returning with the bowling figures of 4 for 10 in four overs.
She dismissed Deandra Dottin on the third ball of the run chase and then, in her second over, got rid of Barbados skipper Hayley Matthews. In the fifth over of Barbados' innings, Renuka bagged the wickets of Kycia Knight and Aaliyah Alleyne, reducing them to 19/4.
Notably, all of her four victims fell for a single-digit score. Thanks to Renuka’s sensational spell, India restricted Barbados to a paltry 62/8 in 20 overs.
It was Renuka Singh’s second four-wicket haul in the ongoing CWG. She had recorded the figures of 4 for 18 in four overs in India’s opening game against Australia while she claimed one wicket by conceding 20 runs against arch-rivals Pakistan.
