Australia faced off against England in the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 at Christchurch on April 3 and the Australian team put up a performance worthy of the event.

Batting first, Australia put on a massive 356/5 on the board in 50 overs. Rachel Haynes made 68 and Beth Mooney made 62, but the major scorer for the Southern Stars was opener-keeper Alyssa Healy.

Healy, slammed 170 in 138 balls with 26 fours to her name as she took her team to a ungettable target in the pressure final. She also broke a host of records during her knock.

Healy went past Adam Gilchrist’s record of the highest individual score in a World cup final. Gilchrist had made 149* against Sri Lanka in the finale of the 2007 World Cup. Alyssa was also only the second woman to score a century in the final of the Women's World Cup.

She also became the first player to score two hundreds in the knockouts of an ODI World Cup. She scored 129 against West Indies in the semi-final in Wellington. She also registered 509 runs, becoming the first batter to go past the 500-run mark in a single Women’s World Cup edition.

Healy was seen playing this record-breaking knock by her husband and Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who was present in the stadium to watch the match. He stood up and lauded Alyssa as she reached the three-figure mark and gave a heartwarming reaction.
