India lost both WODI and WT20I series 1-2 and 0-2 respectively to Australia.
Despite the 5-11 loss to a dominant Australia in the multi-format series, India Women’s T20 skipper Harmanpreet Kaur pointed out some positives for the team in Richa Ghosh and Pooja Vastrakar's performance as she believes the team is on the right track going forward.
“The result wasn't in our favor but we have good players like Pooja Vastrakar and Richa Ghosh. So we can take a lot of positives and we are on the right track. Thanks to our support staff, they really stood for us,” Kaur said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
32-year-old Harmanpreet Kaur along with seven others will now be competing in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and the right-hand batter called this to be a great opportunity for all the players.
“I'm very excited (for WBBL). It's a great opportunity for us to grow as a team. If we can play more matches before the international series, it will help us,” the Indian skipper signed off.
Australia Women’s winning skipper Meg Lanning also lauded India for the way they fought hard in the series and also admitted that this India Women’s team definitely tested her side.
“We knew India would come back hard. It's been a great series, both sides have had momentum. India has really tested us and given us a great challenge,” Australia’s Meg Lanning said.
Australia’s Tahlia McGrath who was adjudged as the Player of the Match said, “It's been unreal to be part of, loving wearing the Aussie shirt again. I haven't played T20 at this level before, but batting is batting. See ball, hit the ball.”
