AUSW v INDW 2021: WATCH – Australia wins 2nd ODI on last delivery after 3rd umpire declares waist height no-ball

Jhulan Goswami bowled a waist height no-ball on the last delivery.

The second ODI between Australia Women and India Women saw a thrilling finish in Mackay on Friday (September 24), with the hosts clinching the game on the last delivery to go 2-0 up in the three-match series.

Chasing 275 to win, Australia needed 13 in the final over bowled by veteran India pacer Jhulan Goswami, who nearly took the visitors home before the third umpire declared her last delivery as waist height no-ball.

For Australia, Beth Mooney and Nicola Carey were in the middle and they accumulated 10 runs from the first five deliveries with 3 required in the final ball to cross the finishing line.

Carey was facing Goswami on the last delivery and the former was caught at square leg, prompting a celebration in the Indian camp. But the third umpire decided to check for a no-ball and the verdict went in the favour of Australia.

As a result, the home team got another ball to score the two runs and Nicola Carey (39* off 38 balls) managed to hit a couple to secure Australia’s five-wicket victory.

Beth Mooney was adjudged Player-of-the-Match for her unbeaten knock of 125 off 133 balls. Tahlia McGrath also played a stunning innings of 77-ball 74.

The duo added 126 runs for the fifth wicket to steady the ship when the Southern Stars were tottering at 52/4 in the chase.
