India fell one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday (July 12) imposed a fine of 20 percent match fee on the Indian women's cricket team for maintaining a slow over-rate in the second game of the three-T20I series against England at Hove.
ICC match referee Phil Whitticase imposed the sanction after Harmanpreet Kaur's side was found to be one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into account.
“In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time”, an ICC release said.
The Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the proposed sanction. As a result, there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Ian Blackwell and Paul Baldwin, third umpire Sue Redfern and fourth umpire Tim Robinson leveled the charge against the visiting team.
The three-match T20I series hangs at level after visitors produced some heroics with the ball defending a par score in the second T20I. The decider of the series will be played this Wednesday (July 14) in Chelmsford.
The Indian batters were unable to capitalize on a good start and were only able to take the team to a sub-par score. However, the spinners were brilliant to restrict the runs in the latter half of England chase which helped them win the second T20I by 8 runs and level the series.
The Indian team will be looking to take that confidence into the series decider whereas the hosts will look to strike back.
