ENGW v INDW 2021: Mithali Raj celebrates record with match-winning 75* in 3rd ODI

England won the ODI series 2-1.

Indian captain Mithali Raj helped her team earn a consolation four-wicket win in the third ODI against England in Worcester, after becoming the leading run-getter in women's international cricket across all three formats.

38-year-old Mithali (10,337 runs) broke the record of Charlotte Edwards (10,273 runs) and remained unbeaten on 75 as India clinched victory with three balls to spare in the rain-reduced 47 overs per-side dead rubber with England winning the series 2-1.

England were bowled out on the final ball of their innings for 219 with Natalie Sciver (49) and captain Heather Knight (46) doing the major run scoring for the hosts. Deepti Sharma took 3/47 to dent England.

For India, Smriti Mandhana (49) and Sneh Rana (24) played handy knocks to support Mithali Raj who scored the winning runs in the final over to cap off a great series personally as she hit half-centuries in each of the three games. Sophie Ecclestone took 2/36 in her 10 overs.

The teams will now take on each other in a three-match T20I series with Harmanpreet Kaur taking over the leadership duties from Mithali who is retired from the shortest format.
