Sneh Rana along with Taniya Bhatia took India women side to safety on last day to earn a draw.
Life has not been easy for Rana as she last played an international match back in 2016. She also lost her father recently. But by god’s grace, she received a recall to the national side. She knew that’s her chance and she grabbed it with both hands.
While talking to the broadcasters after the match, the 27-year-old talked about the importance of partnerships while the Indian team came out to bat as after hosts asked them for a follow-on.
“So proud, it was important to put up a partnership, that’s what happened with Shikha and Taniya. Feels great to contribute to the team. My thinking was just to stick to the basics and play according to the merit of the ball. Anything loose and I just wanted to put it to the boundary,” Rana said.
It was a great comeback by the Indian women’s team at Bristol as at one point, the visitors were 199/7 and no one gave them the slightest of a chance of a draw.
Thanks to the right-hand batter from Dehradun, who remained unbeaten on 80 off 154 deliveries, along with wicket-keeper batter Taniya Bhatia who stood on like a rock with her at the other end stayed unbeaten on 44 off 88 deliveries as India made the great escape.
