Indian cricket fraternity reacts as Mithali Raj becomes country’s 1st woman cricketer to score 10,000 international runs

Mithali achieved the feat during the third ODI against South Africa in Lucknow.

Mithali Raj on Friday (March 12) created history as she became the first Indian woman cricketer and second overall to complete 10,000 runs in international cricket.

The 38-year-old Mithali, who is the captain of Indian ODI team, joined England’s Charlotte Edwards in the exclusive club. She achieved the feat during the third ODI against South Africa in Lucknow.

On her way to the milestone, Mithali scored 36 off 50 balls with five boundaries as India posted 248/5 in 50 overs.

“What a champion cricketer! First Indian woman batter to score 10K international runs. Take a bow, @M_Raj03,” the BCCI tweeted.

For this remarkable achievement, Mithali Raj also garnered rich praise from the Indian cricket fraternity on social media.

Mithali Raj has played 10 Tests for India, scoring 663 runs while she has 6974 ODI runs to her name from 212 games. In 89 T20Is, she has amassed 2364 runs.
