India women’s cricket team is all set to reportedly host South Africa women for a white-ball series next month with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) coordinating with the Cricket South Africa (CSA) for the series, reported Cricbuzz on Tuesday (February 2).

It is being said that India Women and South Africa Women teams will play five One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals in March 2021 in India with dates and venues yet to be finalized.

The BCCI and CSA are currently discussing the dates and venue(s) for the limited-overs series but the duration of the 5 ODI and 3 T20Is series will be more than a month, considering the fact that the touring team will have to undergo mandatory quarantine due to COVID-19 pandemic.

It is also being said that the BCCI is looking for fewer venues and even all the matches of the series could even be played in one city due to the bio-security issues in the COVID-19 era.

A BCCI office-bearer said: “The details have been worked out and the announcement will come soon. We're coordinating with Cricket South Africa. The dates will be out soon.”

Meanwhile, Cricbuzz reported that the CSA did not respond to the talks of the India tour next month. South African Women’s team is currently playing against Pakistan in a white-ball series which ends on February 3 at home while the men's team is playing a bilateral series in Pakistan.

If CSA gives a green signal for the tour, it will be the Indian women's team’s first international fixture since the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in March at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

However, some Indian cricketers got to play cricket in the Women's T20 challenge in Sharjah in November 2020 held alongside the men’s IPL 13 in the UAE.

Notably, the BCCI is likely to announce an advertisement to recruit the support staff for the Indian women's team soon after head coach WV Raman and bowling coach Narendra Hirwani’s tenure ended last month.
