WBBL 06: Sydney Thunder beats Melbourne Stars to clinch second WBBL title

Sydney clinched their second WBBL title after winning the first one in 2015.

Sydney Thunder won the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 06 by defeating Melbourne Stars in the final on Saturday (November 28). It was a one-sided dominance from Thunder to lift their second WBBL title. They won their first WBBL title in 2015. 

After restricting Stars to just 86/9 in the final, they chased down the target with 38 balls left and 7 wickets in hand. Shabnim Ismail and Sammy-Jo Johnson, both bagged two wickets each for Thunder. Shabnim won the Player-of-the-Match award for her 2/12 in four overs.

Melbourne Stars were the table-toppers in the league stage with 8 wins in 14 matches, and they also secured a convincing victory in the first semi-final over Perth Scorchers. But Sydney gave no chance to them in the final. 

Apart from Sydney Thunder, Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat have won two WBBL titles each.
