WT20 Challenge 2020: Supernovas qualify for final with a thrilling 2-run win over Trailblazers

Chamari Athapaththu scored 48-ball 67 to propel Supernovas to 146/6 in 20 overs.

Trailblazers faced Supernovas in the third match of Women’s T20 Challenge 2020 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday (November 7).

Opting to bat first, Supernovas posted 146/6 in 20 overs on the back of Chamari Athapaththu’s 67 off 48 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (31 off 29 balls) also made a notable contribution with the bat.

Jhulan Goswami was the stand-out bowler for Trailblazers, claiming 1 wicket by conceding 17 runs in her four overs.

In reply, Trailblazers fell only 2 runs short of the target as the match went down to the wire. Deepti Sharma played a valiant knock of 40-ball 43* but failed to take her side over the line. Deandra Dottin and Harleen Deol also played brilliant cameos of 15-ball 27.

For Supernovas, Radha Yadav (2-30) and Shakera Selman (2-31) bowled well and picked up two wickets each.

With this victory, Supernovas secured their place in the final and will face the Smriti Mandhana-led Trailblazers in the summit clash on Monday (November 9).
