Mithali Raj and Punam Raut star as India Women beat South Africa women by 5 wickets in 2nd ODI

India women lead the 3-match ODI series 2-0 with one match remaining.

After defeating the South African women’s team 3-1 in the six-match T20I series, the Indian women team has won the 3-match ODI series as well, with a five-wicket win in the second match at Vadodara.

Mithali Raj won the toss and chose to bowl first. Laura Wolvaardt made 69, Mignon du Preez made 44 and Lizelle Lee made 40 as South Africa put on a formidable 247/6 in 50 overs. Lara Goodall also contributed 38 quick runs as well.

Shikhar Pandey (2/38), Ekta Bisht (2/45) and Poonam Yadav (2/42) were the pick of Indian bowlers.

In reply, Ayabonga Khaka removed Rodrigues for 18, but Punam Raut made 65 with 7 fours and skipper Mithali made 66 with 8 fours and the duo added 129 runs for the 3rd wicket. Harmanpreet Kaur remained unbeaten on 39 with one six and 5 fours to take the team to victory with 5 wickets in hand. Khakha picked 3/69 and was the pick of South Africa bowling.

Punam Raut was named the Player of the Match.
