The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (Jun 30) unveiled the Indian women's team squad for the 2026 Asian Games, with Harmanpreet Kaur being named the captain.

Harmanpreet retained her role as the team's skipper despite India's dismal Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, where they faced a group-stage exit.

While Smriti Mandhana has been named Kaur’s deputy, Shreyanka Patil has also been added to the squad, though she will need to prove her fitness prior to the continental event after hurting her ankle during the T20 World Cup.

India's team roster largely resembles the playing group that participated in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup. The only change to the India squad sees G. Kamalini named in the 15-player group, with fellow keeper Yastika Bhatia dropping out.

Apart from Harmanpreet and Mandhana, India’s batting lineup features Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh. The bowling responsibilities will largely be carried by Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Shree Charani, Arundhati Reddy and Nandni Sharma.

The Indian women's team will enter the Asian Games as defending champions, having won the gold medal at the event's previous edition in Hangzhou, China in 2023. The 2026 edition of Asian Games commences in Japan on September 17.

India's squad for the 2026 Asian Games: Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (Vice-Captain), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (WK), G. Kamalini (WK), Bharti Fulmali, Sree Charani, Renuka Thakur, Kranti Gaud, Arundhati Reddy, Shreyanka Patil*, Radha Yadav, Nandni Sharma.
