With the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction around the corner, the five franchises have unveiled the list of their retained and released players.
There were some big and bold calls, with UP Warriorz shocking everyone with their tactic. Defending champions Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals were the only two teams to retain the full quota of five players, which also included an uncapped star.
Season 2 winners Royal Challengers Bengaluru kept of their main core, featuring Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry and Shreyanka Patil.
MI retained India's World Cup-winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur, but she was second on the list, with England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt taking the top spot. Gujarat Giants decided to retain two overseas players in the form of Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney.
UP Warriorz caught the fans and experts off-guard by releasing Deepti Sharma, who was adjudged Player-of-the-Tournament in India’s recent World Cup triumph. Warriorz chose to retained uncapped Shweta Sehrawat instead.
