WI v IND 2019: Shikhar Dhawan fit and available for the West Indies tour selection

Dhawan had suffered a fractured thumb during a World Cup game against Australia.

India opener Shikhar Dhawan is understood to have fully recovered from the thumb fracture that had ruled him out of the World Cup and the southpaw is now available to be selected on Sunday (July 21) for the upcoming tour of West Indies.

Dhawan suffered a blow to his hand after a ball from Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile got big on him during a World Cup encounter at The Oval on June 9.

Subsequently, he couldn't recover in time for the rest of the campaign after scans revealed a fracture and he had to stay away from the game for six weeks. He has been rehabilitating at the NCA in Bangalore ever since.

Dhawan hit the nets on July 18 for the first time after more than a month following his injury and he posted a video clip on social media wherein he was seen taking a few throw-downs at him.

The 33-year-old even took the Bottle Cap Challenge and aced it with a perfect straight drive.

India will travel to the Caribbean for three T20Is, as many ODIs and two Test matches.
