England defeated USA by 10 wickets and 62 balls remaining.
Jos Buttler led from the front as England decimated USA in their Super 8s match in the T20 World Cup 2024 by 10 wickets in Barbados. With this win, England has qualified for the semi-final of the tournament as well.
Jos Buttler had won the toss against the USA and decided to bowl first. Chris Jordan was called up to replace Mark Wood in the starting lineup.
The USA struggled against England bowlers on a sluggish track at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. Nitish Kumar (30) and Corey Anderson (29) were the leading scorers as the USA collapsed for 115 runs.
Adil Rashid wreaked havoc in the middle overs, taking 2 for 13, while Sam Curran also got two wickets. However, the USA innings ended after they lost their final five wickets for 115 runs. The main reason for this quick wrap up was Chris Jordan who picked 4/10, with all four wickets coming in the 19th over.
In the process he also took a hat-trick, becoming the first England bowler to do so in T20 World Cups.
In the chase, Phil Salt played a supporting role scoring 25 in 21 balls with 2 fours, while captain Jos Buttler took the attack to the USA bowlers. He hammered 83* in 38 balls with 6 fours and 7 sixes as England won the game in 9.4 overs with 10 wickets in hand.
Buttler was particularly severe on Harmeet Singh in the 9th over, as he smacked him for 5 sixes, with four coming consecutively and then a wide and then a fifth six, as Harmeet leaked 32 runs in the over.
