India has almost assured their spot in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finals thanks to their dominating win over Bangladesh in the Super 8s match on June 22. The match was played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and interestingly chose to bat first.

In the Indian innings, everyone contributed with the bat with Rohit Sharma (23) and Virat Kohli (37) laying a solid foundation for the rest of the batters. Rishabh Pant (36) and Shivam Dube (34) continued the brilliant batting display.

Hardik Pandya then came to the fore and stroked 50* in 27 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes as India posted 196/5 in 20 overs. Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rishad Hossain picked two wickets each.

In reply, the Bangladeshi batter struggled to find momentum on the track that slowed down under the sun. Captain Shanto (40), Tanzid Hasan (29), and Rishad Hossain (24) were the main scorers for the Tigers, but they could only post 146/8 in 20 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav shined with 3/19, while Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each. Hardik Pandya was named the Player of the Match.

India will now clash with Australia on Monday, June 24. However, if Australia beats Afghanistan in the second match of the day at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent, India, and Australia will qualify for the semis.

The cricket fraternity was excited by the performance of the Indian team and praised them on social media.
