USA also qualified directly for T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
The Babar Azam-led Pakistan team was ousted from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. This happened after the USA v Ireland match on June 14 got washed out due to heavy rain in Florida.
Pakistan only managed to win one game out of three they have played in Group A thus far. The Men in Green started by losing to USA in the Super over in their tournament opener. And then they surprisingly lost to India from a winning position.
On the other hand, USA defeated Pakistan and Canada and lost to India.
For Pakistan to qualify for the Super 8s, they needed to defeat Ireland in their final league match on Sunday. And they prayed for Ireland to defeat USA as well.
However, with the USA v Ireland match getting abandoned due to rain, they qualified for the Super 8s and Pakistan were eliminated. USA also earned a direct entry for the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
