Australia defeated England in their T20 WC 2024 match.
Former Australia cricketer Matthew Hayden became a victim of slip of tongue during the England v Australia T20 World Cup 2024 match in Barbados recently.
Australia defeated England by 36 runs at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday, June 8. Mitchell Marsh's team scored 201 runs in 20 overs, losing seven wickets. Despite losing six wickets, the Jos Buttler-led squad scored 165 runs in the chase.
During England's chase in the first over, Matthew Hayden slipped his tongue while on air. As Mitchell Starc bowled, Hayden accidentally said 'sex' instead of 'six,' causing laughter in the commentary box.
"He's got to bring all of that wisdom, sex, sixes inside that first six [overs]," Hayden said.
After being put into bat first, Australia posted 201/7 in 20 overs. Travis Head (34), David Warner (39), Mitchell Marsh (35) and Marcus Stoinis (30) were the major contributors.
In reply, Jos Buttler made 42 and Phil Salt made 37 runs. Pat Cummins took two wickets for 23 runs in his four overs. Australia successfully restricted England to 165/6 in 20 overs to secure their second consecutive win.
