Having thrashed Ireland in their T20 World Cup 2024 opener, Team India are set to face arch-rivals Pakistan in New York on Sunday (June 9).

Ahead of the marquee clash, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has opined that the Men in Blue hold an edge over Pakistan as they are more accustomed to the playing conditions.

Notably, India have been stationed in New York, participating in two matches, including a warm-up fixture against Bangladesh. On the other hand, Babar Azam’s men will play their first match at Nassau County ground.

"India will have an advantage because they have already played on this ground and Pakistan are coming into this game after playing on a flat pitch," Harbhajan told ANI.

Moreover, Harbhajan pointed out that India's current form is another factor that could shift the balance in their favour.

While the Rohit Sharma-led side is entering the big match on the back of a thumping eight-wicket victory over Ireland, Pakistan suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of USA in their campaign opener in Dallas.

"It will be a big challenge for Pakistan to settle in this condition after losing against the US. So, India have the advantage and they are playing well also," he added.

Harbhajan also mentioned key players who could influence the outcome of the India-Pakistan clash.

"Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav will make the maximum impact in the upcoming match against Pakistan. These two players are match-winners," he remarked.

Additionally, Harbhajan Singh called for the inclusion of wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav in India’s playing XI for the Pakistan clash.

"Kuldeep Yadav is a wicket-taker and has variations so he should play. I think Axar Patel was included in the playing eleven since India needed a batting option in the 8th place."
